EVP, Enterprise Risk Management
As loanDepot’s executive vice president of enterprise risk management, Jim Svinth is responsible for the company’s risk management activities, which include overall ERM, credit policy, internal audit, vendor management, asset disposition and business continuity management. He is a founding member of its executive team.
Svinth is a seasoned business leader with nearly 29 years of financial and operations experience with several Fortune 500 companies, including GE Capital, Norwest, The Prudential, and Citigroup. He has led virtually every aspect of the mortgage banking process, with particular emphasis in the risk management, capital markets and structured finance disciplines.
Prior to joining loanDepot, Svinth held similar positions at Home Loan Center/LendingTree Loans from 2002 through 2008, acting as head of Capital Markets, COO, and division president.
From 2000 to 2002, Svinth was division president of GE Capital’s small-ticket equipment leasing division, Colonial Pacific Leasing. Prior to Colonial, Svinth was responsible for GE Capital’s Mortgage Services, Inc. institutional lending division in addition to GE’s secured warehouse lending division, Cooper River Funding.
From 1996 to 1998, Svinth held the position of Group Senior Vice President of Capital Markets at Norwest Mortgage, Inc. (now Wells Fargo Home Loans). He joined Norwest as part of Norwest’s acquisition of Prudential Home Mortgage and was with Prudential as its head of structured finance from 1987 until its acquisition in 1996.
Svinth earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Washington State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from the University of Washington.
